Brunswick High School in Lawrenceville, Va., is our third 2022 Apples4Ed winner. The school applied for an A4E grant to provide a healthy snack pantry for students in need. “This snack pantry will be accessible for those students who can’t afford to purchase snacks and will also help to get them a healthy snack choice if they opt out of getting a school breakfast or lunch,” said the school’s nutrition supervisor Marion Elder. “I see quite a few students who come through the snack line; however, they don’t have the funds to get what they want, or another student purchases the items for them.” Brunswick High School is in a high-poverty area, with 100% of students ISP certified for free school meals. USApple’s Jim Bair visited the school yesterday to present the grant.
