NextGen Fellows Award Grant to Bronx School with Money Raised from Silent Auction

The 2022 USApple NextGen fellows awarded PS811X, the Academy for Career and Living Skills, a $5,000 Apples4Ed grant. They traveled to the Bronx in New York to meet the students and personally present them and the faculty with the gift. Students at the school range in age from 13-21 years and have mild to severe physical or cognitive disabilities. The school works with the students to help them to try to become independent. Part of this includes learning about healthy eating, producing their own fruits and vegetables, cooking, and even holding a weekly farmers market where they sell their goods to the community. The Apples4Ed grant came from money raised at the NextGen auction NextGen held in August, and all proceeds from the auction went directly to the school.
