Union Gap School in Union Gap, Wash., received a 2022 Apples4Ed grant to provide healthy snacks to students though the end of the school year and into summer school and summer migrant camp. Union Gap is a bilingual school serving families with a high level of need; 100% of Union Gap’s students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch.
“The school is an amazing place,” says Mike Preacher of Domex Superfresh Growers and USApple’s immediate past chair who presented the grant to the school. “They play pump-up music and high-five all the kids as they enter the school. It feels like one big family.”
